What is a Summons
Written Order, signed by Mags (or clerk), to the accused, directing them to appear at court.
What can a summons direct a person to do..?
- Answer to Offences
- Give evidence
- Produce an exhibit
Who can sign a defendant summons?
Magistrate and/or Magistrate Clerk
What is a report for summons?
When facts are reported for consideration, for a summons to be issued against a person.
When can you report someone for summons?
- You witness an offence OR
- you have a complaint made/reported to you
AND - You report the offender for summons.
Where do you report a summons?
PRONTO.
