How to get the correct size suit
Suit
Shoulder: lean against wall, contact suit then shoulder with no bunching bunching : suit too big shoulder hits before fabric: too tight
should be able to comfortably cross arms without tearing fabric
Stomach : Tie top button of suit : should be able to put hand in between button
if hand feels too tight in that area: suit too small
Sleeves: should show quarter - 1/3 inch of your shirt at end
sleeve should fall between wrist and middle of thumb
Suit should cover bottom
correct size pants
Waist: Natural waist - three fingers down from belly button- that’s where pants should fit
Pants should fit comfortably without need of belt
Pant leg
Lapels
Notch lapel- most suits
Peak Lapel - more formal/flashy
Shawl lapel - formal
Buttons
Do not button the bottom button
go two button suits
good suits have functioning buttons (pictured)
Vents
recommend double vent
no pleats
Selecting suits
seasonal
winter : go wool/corduroy
summer: light frabics such as cotton, linen, thin fine wool
Summer : bright colours
winter: brown tones, navy tones, dark tones
Shirts
Dress shirt
shirt that fits really well, snug but not causing any creasing, no pulling on buttons. shirt long enough that it keeps neatly tucked into pants all day
no buttoned colors
go with two buttoned barrel cuff
T shirt - dress down a suit- less formal but still well dressed
black or white v-neck: thin fit, no bunchin up down the middle and not too long so that it goes past the suit
tie
doesn’t go below belt
doesn’t sit too high up
colour must fit colour pallete of suit and dress shirt
socks
no socks with loafers
invisible socks
colourful socks
pocket tie
same colour pallete as tie, shirt and suit
shoes
as long as they’re good quality, match the colour of suit anything goes
