- Mental disorder
- History of deliberate self-harm/suicide (strongest risk factor)
- Physical illness
- Previous attempt

Socioeconomic:
- Male sex
- Age (middle age)
- Unemployed
- Low socioeconomic status
- Occupation i.e doctors/farmers
- Alcohol/Drug use
