Static Risk factors for suicide is?
Previous self-harm
Diagnosis of mental disorder (especially depression)
Substance abuse (especially alcohol)
Family history of suicide
Recent stressor or loss
Age, gender, marital status (older age, male, divorced)
Dynamic Risk factors for suicide
Dynamic
Active suicidal ideation
Guilt
Hopelessness
Current substance use
Psychosocial stressors
Problem solving deficits
Static Risk factors of harm to others
Previous violence (robust predictor)
Antisocial personality disorder
Poor impulse control
History of substance abuse (especially alcohol)
Dynamic Risk factors of harm to others
Dynamic
Active substance use
Negative affect (anger, irritability, humiliation)
Social factors (conflict with others)
For each psychometric assessment you need to know:
- It’s use
- Age range/target population
- Screener, diagnostic or measure or info gathering tool
- Australian norms or not
- Culturally appropriate or not
For the following six, you also need to be able to interpret scores.
- WAIS (Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale)
- WISC (Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children)
- PAI (Personality Assessment Inventory)
- DASS (Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale)
- K10 (Kessler Psychological Distress Scale), and - screening
- SDQ (Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire) – screening
