What is a sudden death?
A
A death that occurs away from a hospital that in some way was unexpected

Who can verify the fact of death?
A
- Doctor
- Other medical practitioner
- Police (must be no available medical professional and death is obvious)
You must record who verified the fact of death and time and date

When can police never verify the death of someone?
A
When the person died:
- Is under the age of 18
- Died following police contact
- Died in a drowning, rail or road accident (unless decapitation or severe burning has occurred)
