Subtalar Jt Flashcards
1
Q
Calcaneal Inversion
A
(0 – 10 or 15 degrees)
Another means of reporting the normal range of motion is to state that “most individuals have two to three times more inversion than eversion.”
2
Q
Calcaneal Inversion Positioning
A
- Prone at edge of table, neutral hip rotation, foot off end of table
- Normal End Feel: Firm (due to tissue tension on the lateral aspect)
3
Q
Goniometer-Calcaneal Inversion
A
USE Broad-arm (ruler) goniometer
• Fulcrum/ Axis: posterior aspect of the ankle at the midpoint between the malleoli (no boney reference other than the malleoli)
- Stationary Arm: posterior midline of the lower leg (no boney reference)
- Moving Arm: posterior midline of the calcaneous
4
Q
Calcaneal Eversion
A
(0 – 5 degrees)
Another means of reporting the normal range of motion is to state that “most individuals have two to three times more inversion than eversion.”
5
Q
Calcaneal Eversion Postioning
A
- Patient position, goniometer and goniometer alignment is the same as for subtalar joint, hindfoot, rearfoot, calcaneal inversion.
- Normal End Feel: Hard (due to contact between the calcaneus and the floor of the sinus tarsi) or Firm (due to tissue tension on the medial aspect)
