Subtalar Jt Flashcards

1
Q

A

(0 – 10 or 15 degrees)
Another means of reporting the normal range of motion is to state that “most individuals have two to three times more inversion than eversion.”

Q

Goniometer-Calcaneal Inversion

A

USE Broad-arm (ruler) goniometer

• Fulcrum/ Axis: posterior aspect of the ankle at the midpoint between the malleoli (no boney reference other than the malleoli)

  • Stationary Arm: posterior midline of the lower leg (no boney reference)

Q

Calcaneal Eversion Postioning

A
  • Patient position, goniometer and goniometer alignment is the same as for subtalar joint, hindfoot, rearfoot, calcaneal inversion.
  • Normal End Feel: Hard (due to contact between the calcaneus and the floor of the sinus tarsi) or Firm (due to tissue tension on the medial aspect)
