Subject test 1 Flashcards
What do we need to be aware of for pilots environmental control?
Oxygen and CO(carbon monoxide) levels.
What is used on your finger to test Oxygen saturation in the blood and heart rate?
Pulse type Oxymeter
What are the three types of Oxygen Available in aviation?
LOX(Liquid Oxygen), Chemical/Solid Oxygen(genarators), and Gaseous Oxygen
What is the problem with chemical/solid(candles) Oxygen?
Puts out heat and once its started it cannot stop burning
What is the problem with liquid oxygen(LOX)?
Leaks, its cold, and needs a vacuum container.
How is gaseous oxygen serviced?
Fill bottle to 1800 psi, temperature changes the 1800 psi, check for leaks, use tools free of oils.
What type of oxygen regulators are there in airplanes?
Demand flow type and continuous flow type
What type of Oxygen system is more conservative with the use of Oxygen?
Demand flow type regulators conserve oxygen, but the others are cheaper to use and install.
What type of Oxygen has continuous flow?
Chemical/Solid Oxygen has continuous flow
What is a Diluter system? What does it do?
Dylutes Oxygen Level from 100 percent Oxygen.
How do you know that oxygen is flowing on demand oxygen systems?
Flow meter.
How do you know a supplemental Oxygen tank has been over-pressurized?
Green blowout disk is gone/ damaged.
What is the atmospheric pressure at sea level?
14.7 psi
What is barometric pressure at sea level?
29.92 inches of mercury
Are oil free tools required to work around oxygen? true or false
true
