What are the differences between a lager and an ale?
Lagers:bottom-fermenting, longer cold fermentation process, generally lighter crisper beer
Ales:top-fermenting, warmer shorter fermentation process, generally hearty, robust beer, trademark bitterness
What is a IPA and give an example
India pale ale is a hoppy beer style within the broader category of pale ale.
3 styles of ipa: American, English, and Double or imperial.

What is an English ipa
Originally brewed as extra hoppy for long sea voyage from England to India using the preservative properties of hops. Brewed with English hops and earthy, woodsy, spicy.
What is an American IPA
Even more aggressively hoped than English ipas. Pine and bitter grapefruit
What is an double IPA?
Also called imperial, American style even more hops but more malt to balance it.
What is pale ale?
Beer made from warm fermentation using pale malt. The higher proportion of pale Malta results in lighter color.
