  • No professional judges or legal practitioners
  • Process:
    1. Adult members meet to discuss the dispute
    2. If they fail - matter taken to offending party’s headman
    3. If headman fails - resort to senior traditional leader’s court
    4. Even though senior traditional leaders are granted civil and criminal jurisdiction, the court council performs the judicial function
  • Informal - more like mediation / reconciliation than a trial
