Positivism
An approach to sociology based on studying society in a scientific manner, produces a quantitative data
Quantitative data
Information or facts in numerical form, statistics
Bias
When a research is influenced by the researcher’s values
Objectivity
When there is no bias, researchers not allowing their feelings or values to affect the research
Interpretivism
Opposite of positivism, qualitative data, is subjective, prefer unstructured interviews and participant observation
Qualitative data
Facts and info that cannot be presented in numerical form, presented in words
Primary data
First hand data collected by the sociologist themself
Secondary data
Second hand data, information collected from others but used by sociologists later
