Define Thesis
Statement of opinion. Must be controversial and stated in reasonable language. Should present the main idea of the essay and should be well-written. Examine thesis alone and ensure it is complete and well developed. The thesis statement should be placed in the introduction paragraph as the last sentence.
Define Antithesis
Points out a counterargument. It should strengthen the argument to consider the opposing viewpoint. This shows readers that the author is aware and has considered other viewpoints. If possible, an answer to the antithesis should also be included. This is not always possible.
Define Pro Point #1
this is an argument in support of your thesis. Use facts to back up your ideas. If outside research is used, you must cite appropriately.
Define Pro Point #2
Provides a second idea in support of your argument. You should give thought to the reader of the points, listing the strongest point last to leave the readers with the most convincing aspect of the argument as the last thoughts read.
Define Conclusion
This brings the essay to an end. Start with the thesis statement, reworded, and then move in a general direction from there. this should not merely be a repetition of the essay.
Define Transitions
Help the reader move from one idea to the next. Transitions may be words or phrases. Use transitions between paragraphs and anywhere else that helps the readers transition from one idea to the next.
