The Germanic is the people that took over after the Romans. They ruled by:

Who was Charlemagne, and what did he do?
Charlemagne is a powerful ruler of the Frankish kingdom. He did many things like:
- Built European empire even bigger than when Romans ruled
- Created well organized, well-run empire
- Made new laws
- Enlisted powerful landholders
- Often traveled in kingdom to make sure it worked well
What happened when Charlemagne died?
People started fighting.
Explain how feudalism worked in ancient Europe
After Charlemagne, the Europe kings didn’t have real power. So The Lord is the most powerful in the feudalism. The Lord gives vassals land, and the Lord gives the knight for protection and gives the serfs food, shelter and protection to work on the land. The comes the vassals ( small landowner). The vassals give the lord taxes for the land, and gives the knights money for protection. After the vassals is the knights which gives protection to the lord, and vassals. Then comes the serfs, they give the lord food that he farmed or he sell the food for money and give the money to the Lord.
How was Europe feudalism and Japanese feudalism similar and different?
Similar: 1. Develop because of weak government 2. Kings are Figure heads 3. Owners own peasants 4. Farming is important 5. Loyalty is important 6. Skilled soldiers are important 7.
