Dual federalism (layer cake federalism or divided sovereignty):
- power is divided between federal and state governments in clearly defined terms
- state government have their powers and federal government does not interfere
Cooperative federalism (marble cake):
Concept of federalism where state and federal governments work together to solve issues and interact rather than making policies separately
Federalism:
A system of government in which power is divided between a central authority and constituent political units
