What does R2P do during a ditching
- Commence initial ditching commands. Fit life jacket
- take torch, proceed to overwing
- check exit safe to open
- open exit
- if time permits launch raft (if carried)
What happens if a pair of doors are unusable?
If a pair of doors are unusable the L1 or L2 primaries are to remain at the unusable doors, declared blocked exit and redirect passengers
Why are doors 2 not opened during a ditching?
It would affect the flotation of the aircraft.
Where are escape straps located?
Escape straps are installed above the aft emergency exit frame
What doors/exits are primary means of escape in a land evacuation?
All doors/exits
What doors/exits are a primary means of escape in a ditch?
Doors 1 and over wing exits are primary means of escape
How do you open an emergency overwing exit?
Pull emergency handle down then release (exit will automatically move outward and up.)
Do B737 doors have power assist?
No
Where are slides located?
Doors 1 and 2 are fitted with slide only devices
How do you disconnect the slide raft?
- lift the placarded flap at the top of the slide
- pull the detachment handle now visible
- Once released the slide may need to be pushed away from the aircraft before launching rafts (if carried) and evacuation can commence
Are the slides equipped with a survival kit or canopy?
No
Can the slides be used as a flotation device during a ditching?
Yes
When life rafts are required what is carried?
3 x 56 person air cruiser life rafts and 1 x 25 person air cruiser will be carried
What is the preflight check for life rafts stored in the ceiling stowages?
Preflight check is completed by placing a finger through the small hole in the stowage area to confirm presence of the liferaft.

The lights are located aft of each entry and service m door and illuminate the areas at the base of the escape slides.
Where are the two emergency lights installed?
On each side of the fuselage to illuminate the overwing escape routes and ground contact area
Where is the galley power switch located?
The galley power switch is in the flight deck
What is the cabin indication of the lavatory smoke detector going off?
- aural alarm on smoke detector sounds.
- red alarm light (on smoke detector)
- attendant amber call light outside the lavatory flashes.
- alternate HI chime and flashing amber light at nearest master call panel

In case of a suspected fire or smoke event at an IFE control panel, behind a ceiling panel, in an In Seat power unit or USB outlet the cabin crew should?
- Commence basic fire drill
- Then off the IFE, QStresming, IFC (Wi-Fi) and In Seat power systems (as applicable) at the switches at L1. Power must remain switched off for the remainder of the flight
What does it mean if the grey dots have turned black in the waste bin extinguisher?
Means they have been exposed to high temperatures. If a dot has turned black, extinguisher may have been discharged.
How do you make a PA in an emergency?
- Remove handset from cradle
- Press ‘8’
- Press the Push To Talk Bar
How do you make cabin crew emergency calls?
- Press the ‘2’ button twice.
- When the call is answered, press the ‘5’ button
- Confirm the flight crew have answered the call
Cabin indications of an emergency call?
- a HI/LO chime and a steady pink call light
What does the ‘5’ button do in the emergency cabin call?
Allows the cabin crew to contact the aft or forward cabin crew station in an emergency situation
How do you make a priority flight deck only call in an emergency?
- Remove the handset

How many cabin crew is needed when refuelling with passengers on board B737?
3 cabin crew. 1 per pair of doors plus 1 additional

When the passenger load is 145 or more

R2P

Primaries will respond for any assist located at the same position. L2P replies for L2/R2.
What is at right 1?
No equipment as it’s a galley

L1 checks all the cupboards and stowages until the cabin starts

- has to be near a means of escape in case of an emergency so would not be down at doors2 as we don’t exit that way.
Where are spare adult jackets located?
Right 2 (in skinny cupboard)
Where are infant extension seat belts located?
L1 there is 6 (we have to count them). R2 in skinny cupboard at the back 6 (have to count them)
Where is the escape rope located?
Flight deck
Where are the escape straps located?
Aft over wing exit frame, in the forward part of it
What is common to all positions under the jump seat?
- life jacket
- torch
- ID card
- non normal checklist
What is an overwing?
An exit as they do not go all the way to the floor, they’re half size
Where are the master call panel located?
Below exit signs in forward and rear cabin ceiling
To make a normal cabin to cabin call?
- Pickup handset

Ovens don’t have a on/off switch they just have a thermostat
If there is a fire coming from the oven what does the communicator need to do if smoke and flames permit?
Ask captain to isolate the galley power

How does the call backs go for preflight emergency equipment and security checks?
-R2P responds to L2P after completing their preflight emergency equipment and security checks and must report if rafts are fitted or not fitted
- L2P responds for L2 & R2 primary
“Door number, name, emergency equipment and security checks complete, door disarmed or armed, rafts fitted or rafts not fitted.”
Can both L1 and L2 be open for boarding or disembarkation?
Yes
What is the cracked position?
When the ground staff have closed the door to the cracked position and that door primary needs to rotate the handle to the closed position
Door arming call back
- R2P is required to answer the call back and respond
- prior to handing the inter phone to L2P and returning to their door
- L2P will respond to the call back
- R1P will respond to the call back by directly speaking to the CSM
- following the R1P the CSM will speak into the inter phone and say the call back.
When does the DISARM doors occurV
After the PA from captain when the aircraft has stopped at the terminal
How do you make a normal call to flight deck?
- Pick up the phone

How do you ARM a door on B737?
- Place the red warning strap across door viewing window
- Push down in door operating handle to fully closed position
- ARM door by moving slide girt bar from door clips to floor brackets
- Cross check opposite door
- Move back to allocated door, awaiting door call back
What is the door DISARMING procedure on B737?
- DISARM door by moving slide girt bar from floor brackets to door brackets.
- Confirm girt bar is fully in door brackets by pushing down firmly.
- Removed red warning strap from viewing window
- Cross check opposite door
- Await call back
How do you make a PA?
- Lift handset
- Press ‘8’
- Press the push to talk bar and speak
How do you make a station to flight deck call?
- Lift handset

How do you crack a door after you have heard the two knocks and a thumbs up?
- Confirm the door is DISARMED
- Give two firm knocks and a thumbs up in the viewing window
- Crack the door by rotating the door handle 90 degrees to the 12 o’clock postion
How long does the oxygen last for from PSU?
12 minutes
Where is the lockable items such as restraint pack, defib located?
Forward right over head stowage, (first locker on right hand side)
