Studies to use for examples Flashcards
What was the aim of Watson and Raynor’s study?
To see if it is possible to induce fear of a previously unfeared object through classical conditioning.
What was the method and procedure of Watson and Raynor’s study?
Case study on Little Albert, who was 11 months old when experiments started. Albert had once cried and was startled when a hammer hit a suspended steel bar. He was also previously not scared of rats. They repeatedly struck the steel bar with the hammer whenever Albert reached out to touch the rat.
What were the findings of Watson and Raynor’s study?
The first time the steel bar was struck when Albert touched the rat, he jumped and fell forward. The second time, he whimpered. After 5 paired presentations, Albert reacted to the rat alone by immediately crying and crawling away.
What were the conclusions made in Watson and Raynor’s study?
It is possible to condition fear through classical conditioning.
What was the aim of Milgram’s study?
To investigate what level of obedience would be shown when participants were told by an authority figure to administer electric shocks to another person.
