16
Q

How would an Army aviator participate in a TRSA?

A

Contact the radar approach control and avail themselves of the TRSA Services
NOTE: Refer to AIM, para 3-4-3

17
Q

Can an Army pilot flying an Army helicopter legally enter a Resticted Area VFR?

A

yes, with authorization from the using or controlling agency first
NOTE: Refer to AIM, para 3-4-4

18
Q

What is the purpose of a Warning Area

A

to warn nonparticipating pilots of the potential danger from activity that may be hazardous to nonparticipating aircraft
NOTE:Refer to AIM, para 3-4-5

19
Q

There are no restrictions on through flight for VFR aircraft flying in a Military Operations Area (MOA). What procedure should be followed prior to entering an MOA?

A

Pilots should contact any FSS within 100mi of the area to obtain accurate real time information concerning the MOA hours of operation. Prior to entering an active MOA, pilots should contact the controlling agency for traffic advisories
NOTE: Refer to AIM, para 3-4-6

20
Q

What is the purpose of an Alert Area?

A

to inform nonparticipating pilots of areas that may contain a high volume of pilot training or an unusual type of aerial activity
NOTE: Refer to AIM, para 3-5-3

21
Q

How could an Army aviator become aware of a possible Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) along the route of flight?

A

The pilot should check appropriate NOTAMs during flight planning.

22
Q

Would providing a safe environment for the operation of disaster relief aircraft be a possible reason to create a TFR?

A

yes

23
Q

IAW AR 95-1, how must a military flight plan be filed

A

local commanders will establish policies specifying the flight plan or operator’s log to be used. (AR 95-1 ch.5, section 5-2d)

24
Q

What publication provides instructions for completing DD Form 175 flight plan entries?

A

General Planning (GP) ch.4

25
Q

With an Army aircraft bearing the serial number 57-9555, what entry would be placed in the “Aircraft Call Sign” block on the DD Form 175

A

R79555, GP page 4-7, Item 2

26
Q

For a flight departing from Eglin Air Force Base, which flight plan would you file?

A

DD Form 175

27
Q

Are notations required on flight plans when VIP’s are on board the aircraft?

A

yes, per GP Section 4-3 page 4-16

28
Q

How is fuel on board listed on a DD 175

A

hours plus minutes, total time the aircraft can stay aloft (also called maximum time aloft until fuel burnout). GP pg. 4-15 item 14

29
Q

What would be an approved method for closing flight plans at military installations?

A

Per AR 95-1 page 41, para 5-5e, when the flight terminates the PC will ensure the flight plan is closed as shown in DOD/U.S Government FLIP. Per the GP (which is FLIP) page 6-10, section 6-9d, the pilot should verbally confirm closing with tower or base ops. Although the GP doesn’t specifically say so, communicating with ground control would also be acceptable.

30
Q

(True or False) Your destination, Big Town airport, is inside class D airspace. When you check the forecast weather, Big Town is forecasting conditions of 1200 feet ceiling and 2 SM visibility at your estimated time of arrival. You can legally file a VFR flight to this airport. Explain your answer

A

True. Per AR 95-1 Section 5-2, you may file a VFR flight plan to a class D airport that is reporting SVFR conditions, which are normally 1/2 SM visibility and Clear of Clouds

31
Q

What are the Rotary wing Day SVFR minimums for Fort Rucker operated airports/heliports?

A

300’ ceiling and 1/2 SM visibility Reference Area Planning AP-1, page 3-75

32
Q

When citing a previously filed FF form 365-4 for a normal loading, what is the correct method of entry for weight and balance on a DD 175

A
