Struts Flashcards
A flapper valve
Restricts the flow of oil to minimize rebound
The correct amount of air in an oleo strut is commonly measured by the
extension of the lower half of the strut
the type of fluid to use in the strut is in the manufacture manual and on the
strut itself
Sometimes the fluid is different from
the aircraft system
To prevent a very rapid extension of of an oleo strut after initial compression resulting from landing
various types of valves or orifices are used which restrict the reverse
the metering pins in oleo shock struts serve to
retard the flow of oil
What is the purpose of the torque links attached to the cylinder and piston of a landing gear oleo strut
keep landing gear pointing forward and holds in piston in cylinder
What does a nose wheel brake do?
stops the rotating of the nose wheel after it enters the wheel well
All retractable landing gear systems must have a means of lowering the gear in the event of extension system fail.
mechanical . pressure bottle. free falling
Loss of fluid escapes thru
the O-rings
puddles of fluid is a sign of
bad Orings
a condition of landing gear in which the front of the tires are closer together that the rear is called
toe-in
a condition of landing gear in which the front of the tires are farther apart that the rear is called
toe-out
wheel alignment is adjusted on the
torque links
camber is
tilted wheel
