Aortic Hiatus
Location: between T12-L1, united with left and right crus
Structures: aorta, thoracic vein, lymph vessels, hemiazygous vein, azygous vein
Crura
Location: both sides of aortic hiatus
Origin: L1-3
Sympathetic Chain
Location: lateral to azygous vein
passes through thorax on either side of vertebral bodies
Esophageal Hiatus
Location: muscle at T10
Passing Structures: esophagus, vagus nerve, gastric vessels
Vena Caval Foramen
Location: central tendon between T8-9
Passing Structures: inferior vena cava and right phrenic nerve
Left phrenic nerve
Location: anterior to central tendon
Sternocostal Hiatus
Location: passes through interval between sternal and costal regions
Azygous Vein
Location: right side of wall
Drains into posterior intercostal veins -> SVC
Hemiazygous Vein
Location: left side of wall
Drains into azygous vein -> SVC
Aorta
Location: laterally left of esophagus
Thoracic Duct
Location: between esophagus, aorta, hemiazygous vein
