Horizontal Cabling

A

Links work areas to Intermediate Distribution Frame (IDF), typically limited to a single floor, runs horizontally through wall, ceilings, or floors, max distance 90 meters (295 feet), multiple IDFs are needed if distance exceeds 90 meters, multiple IDFs are required when distance is more than 90 meters, and horizontal cross-connects link IDFs on the same floor.

A

A

A smaller distribution point used to connect user devices on a specific floor or section of a building to the main network. Usually, it is found in a telecommunication room or closet. It connects Horizontal cabling to the MDF.

Main Distribution Frame

A

The central distribution point for the building or campus network. Typically, it is found in the main server room or entrance facility. It connects the service provider’s line to the IDFs across the building via backbone cabling.

A
