Epiphyses

A
  1. Expanded ends of long bones
  2. Exterior is compact bone, and the interior is spongy bone
  3. Superficial surface covered in articular (joint) cartilage
  4. Epiphyseal plate (line) separates the diaphysis from the
    epiphyses and represents location of bone lengthening
    (growth) only found in children and adults made from
    hyaline cartilage
