The Bohr Model

A
  • Electrons move in fixed circular orbits
  • Orbits correspond to energy levels in the atom
  • Electrons can only occupy these orbits, not between them
  • Larger (outer) orbits correspond to higher energy levels
  • Move between shells by absorbing or emitting light
  • Prefers the lowest energy state so fill the inner shell first.
