It can be a shift in tone, in setting as long as it is impactful.
It can go from Happy to sad, angry to calm.

It shows emotion.

No punctuation at the end of the line. The line carry’s on to the next one. There’s no comma, there’s no full-stop, there’s no exclamation mark.

Bayonet Charge and charge of the light brigade are epic poem’s because they’re about battles and war.

Poem’s that are written in the first person and only one person talking the whole way through.
They are usually biased and one-sided.
For example my last duchess.

Usually about love.
Different types of love. E.g Ozymandias is in love with himself and power.
