What is the definition of a stroke?
A
- Sudden onset of a focal neurological deficit
- Lasting more than 24 hours
- Due to infarction or haemorrhage

A
Blockage in the blood vessel which stops blood flow

Blood vessel ‘bursts’ leading to a reduction in blood flow

What is the mRS used for? (Modified Rankin Scale)
A
Commonly used to measure disability in people who have suffered a stroke or other causes of neurlogical disability

Detail the mRS criteria?
A
0 - no symptoms 1 - no significant diability 2 - slightly diabled / able to look after affairs without assistance 3. Moderate disability 4. Moderately - severe diability 5. Severe disability - bed ridden 6. Dead
