A
  • With AF = normal heart rhythm
  • Irregular heart rhythm causes clots to form in the atrium
  • Clot can dislodge and travel to the brain (Thromboembolism)
  • Clot cuts off blood supply to the brain
  • Clots from heart to brain = Cardioembolic stroke
