Strike Specific Scenarios Flashcards
Hung Ordnance Approach
When cleared to detach:
Idle, Boards
Below 200kts:
Gear down, Flaps half
At 150kts:
Boards in
At 3NM:
Boards out, Flaps full, On speed, LND Checks
Land centerline less than 600FPM, If you go around enter pattern but avoid houses and people
follow leads path over the ground and never go below your interval
Fully configured prior to 3NM
Lame Duck Pattern
2,000’ above the high pattern (10k AGL)
-or-
1,000’ above OTR altitude for the low pattern
Lost Sight Altitude
1,000’ below whatever pattern you are in
Dont transit pattern altitude if you are already above (just take 1k above)
What do you do if you are at checkpoint altitude on the run in and the position call has not been made yet?
Master Arm - Safe, Safe escape at Planned release altitude, call “Off safe, no drop”
When do you call joker / Bingo?
Add joker on to any other call you would make in the pattern
Call bingo as its own call as long as lead hasnt called “last pass”
EX: “Hammer 12 Abeam 1.2, Joker” or “Hammer 12 in 143, Joker”
What would you do if you found yourself 3.1 DME on the 30° pattern arc?
Make corrections to get back and call “Hammer 12 Deep” if radio traffic allows for it.
Make a “deep” call whenever you are more than 0.3NM wide
You are coming off safe in the high to low transition and you dont see your interval, but they call their position as “abeam”. You are currently at 3,000’, What should you do?
Enter the modified lost sight pattern altitude of 1,000’ above the pattern as to not transit the pattern altitude while you search for your interval
You are coming off safe in the high to low transition and you dont see your interval, but they call their position as “Past”. You are currently at 3,000’, What should you do?
The “past” call constitutes deconfliction and you can descen to pattern altitude to find your interval.
You’re in the high lame duck pattern troubleshooting for the remainder of the flight and lead makes a high to low call.
Wait untill everyone is in the low pattern and drop down to the low lame duck pattern of 1,000’ above the OTR altitude. Stay visual with lead.
You switch to a spare and they didnt wait for you so now you are joining the pattern late.
Put the range freq in pri and call lead on pri to let them know you are in the lame duck pattern with interval in sight ready to join. They will make a hole and you will join between approaching and the RIP. call in cold and use the first pass to trim the plane up. You will assume the last dash position of the flight along with the sanctuary altitude that comes with in on the OTR.
