Pathogenesis of S.pyogens?
Hyalurinic acid - not immuno
M protein - antiphagocytosis
Streptolysin O - immuno
Streptolysin S - not immuno.
Spreading factors of S.pyogens?
Streptokinase - breaks down fibrin clot.
Streptococcal DNase - liquifies pus and extension in skin and soft tissue.
Hyaluronidase - hydrolyze ground substanse of connective tissue.
Exotoxin (A-C) phage code, fever and rash of scarlet fever.
Suppurative diseases of S.pyogens?
Pharingitis تضخم بالغدد اللمفاوية
Scarlet fever- sandpaper rash, circumoral pallor, strawbary tongue
Pyoderma, impetigo (honey)
Cellulitis, necrotizing fascitis, puerperal fever, lymphangitis, erysiplas.
Nonsuppurative diseases of S.pyogens?
Rheumatic fever- chorea later, type 2 hypersensitivity, 2 weak after pharingitis.
Glomerulonephritis- smoky urine, type 3 hypersensitivity.
Diagnosis og S.pyogens?
ELISA test, antibody to streptolysin O (RF), Anti-DNAse B and antihyaluronidase (for acute GN).
What are the Distinguishing Features of S.agalacteae?
B hemo, bacitracian R, hydrolyze hippurate, CAMP(+).
Resrvoir of S.agalacteae?
Vagina, GI tract
Pathogenesis of S.agalacteae?
Capsule, B hemo, CAMP
Diseases of S.agalacteaea?
Meningitis, septicemia, pneumonia.
What are the distinguishing feature of Streptococcus pneumoniae?
- a hemolytic
- Optochin sensitive
- Lancet-shaped diplococci
- Lysed by bile (bile soluble)
Reservoir of S.pneumonia?
Upper respiratory tract.
What are the pathogenesis of S.pneumonia?
- Polysaccharide capsule is the major virulence factor
- IgA protease
- Teichoic acid
- Pneumolysin O
Diseases of S.pneumonia?
Meningitis, otitis media, pneumonia (bloody sputum), sinusitis.
