strengths Flashcards

1
Q

two strengths of using an MRI in the Holzel study.

A
  1. Provides objective data that does not require interpretation by the R
  2. Provides quantitative data that allowed Rs to analyze and numerically compare pre- and post- grey matter
  3. Reduces demand characteristics - Ps may choose what they perceive as a “desires” answer on the FFMQ, but cannot change their own brains to reflect grey matter growth

Q

Describe one way the Rs upheld and violated the protection from harm ethical guideline.

A

Upheld: Made sure not to accept any Ps with metal implants, which could have caused physical harm in the MRI, or claustrophobia, which could have caused psychological harm

Violated: Ps allocated to the control group had to wait at least 8 weeks before they could receive assistance
