what do you do when you have two weak strengthen questions?
see how well both answers directly tie into the argument/conclusion (including language)
what do you do when you have two advanced strengthen questions?
do not fall for the obvious answer or flip flop answer. the right answer will directly tie into the argument and completely strengthen it.
what is a weak strengther
when the argument has a lot of fixing to do and these answers are only barely increasing the likely hood of the conclusion
what is an advanced strenghter
when the argument barely has anything to fix. do not fall for obvious answer or flip flop
what is a flip flop answer
one that seems to strengthen but when you think about it it could weaken
what should you ask yourself before going to answers?
which part of the argument to strengthen or which part of the argument does the author/question really hone in or revolve around
what is a fuzzy word
something that doesn’t have an exact measurement or quantity
examples of fuzzy words
better, not adversely, tall, real
process for answering
- read question stem n identify which part needs to be strengthen
- read argument 2X
- identify conclusion and area of strengthening
- go to answers do not cross any out
- double check to make sure the correct answer is using one of the ways to strengthen.
