Blanche addresses mitch this way when he brings her a bouquet of roses. The knight of the roses.

blaches melodramic and horrific descirpition of the deaths that occured in her family is reminiscent of the work of Amerixan Gothic writer Edgar Allan Poe. She directly quotes “ulalume” which details the narrator unwittingly returning to the grave of his lost love

a series of middle east folk stories, dramatic Irony as this is clearly a projection of blanches desire. The young man stands “like a bashful kid” he is also holding a “cherry soda” which is symbolically American. This widly unfittinh comparison reflects her misuse of literature.
“looking for the pleiades, the Seven Sisters”
Blanche surveying the night sky, the pleiades were seven daughters of Titan, they bacame a group of stars. unlike the sisters blanche is alone as it becomes incresingly clear that stella sides with stanley-greeky mythology
