farming and potato production, remaining rural for many centuries and started to move to industrial manufactoring in the mid 1700s
land use and history
many factories due to link with london, and was outside of the area of the metropolitin building act of 1844 which restricted dangerous industries making the location perfect for industries to locate.

heavily industrialised, with its own railwayand docks for transportation of goods

mainly terraced housing for low income families and industrial workers

still terraced housing etc, but much more luxury high rise buildings and developments
