Speed of Play

A

A quick bet can be a sign of weakness and a delayed action can be a sign of strength, as the player is calculating their strategy with what they perceive as a big hand. Watch how long it takes other players to take action then note their cards if they shown at showdown.

Check Boxes / Auto Plays

A

You can tell when a player uses a checkbox because their action takes place immediately. Use this to your advantage. If they player has checked, you can assume a weak hand, if the player has ‘called any’ you can assume a draw but not ready to fold. These are not 100% of the time, but sometime to keep in mind.

The fact that a player feels strongly enough about a hand before he has seen what the other players have done, should be a tell.

Q

Opponent Fold/Flop Percentage

A

You should get a feel for this over time with each opponent. Is the player folding a lot or playing almost every pot. If he folds a lot, be careful when he goes in. If he plays every pot, you may be able to run over him if you play good cards.

Q

Chat Box

A

If a chatty player gets quiet, they could be focusing on a good hand. If a player is better and becomes antagonistic in the chat box, he may be bluffing and hoping his show of ‘confidence’ will aid the bluff. Also watch for tilt.

Q

Waiting for the big blind

A

If a player is too impatient to wait for the big blind, they are probably too impatient to wait for good hands. Expect him to be loose. If the player does wait, they could be patient or cheap.
