Plot
Beginning of the story
Exposition (introduction)
Events in the story become complicated (between introduction and climax)
Rising action
Turning point of the story; high point of interest and suspense in the story
Climax
Resolution breaks; events and complications start to fall into place
Falling action
Final outcome of events in the story
Resolution (conclusion)
Time and location that a story takes place
Setting
Person in the story; protagonist - center of the story; antagonist- the enemy
Character
Story told by the person themselves; speaker uses pronouns “I”, “me”, “we”
First person
Story told by narrator; uses pronouns”you”, “your”, “yours”
Second person
Story told by a narrator; uses pronouns “he”, “she”, “it”, “they”, “his”, “hers”, “it’s”, “theirs”
Third person
Central message, lesson to learn, “moral of the story”
Theme
The words of character uses in conversation; words and quotation, ex: Mrs Smith said to her students, “do your best.”
Dialogue
Describes topics and its characteristics, uses words like “for example, such as” and adjectives
Description
Things in order, uses words like “first, next, then”
