S: Noticed password in bash profile, security risk.
T: had to address the situation and provide a solution to mitigate risk.
A: pointed out security risk, suggested solution, team mate argued unnecessary, pointed out that my way was common practice.
R: Implemented the change. Could move on with project with proper security.
Critical Deployment Illinois

S: Required to work overtime and manage multiple stories.
T: To manage workload successfully to deliver for the team.
A: Created a schedule, divided time up into 2hr blocks, ensure every story was in progress, communicated with my team regarding availability.
R: All work delivered on time, successful production push.
Developing Kickoff

S: Didn’t feel like I was getting enough exposure to different technologies in my current role. Wanted to progress and become better. Wanted to get a deeper understanding.
T: Set a goal to develop a full stack application from scratch.
A: Broke down the project into different deliverables, took online courses on each area, was only able to dedicate free time in evenings/weekends.
R: App nearly complete, developed a good understanding of ReactJS, expanded my skills.
R: Challenging yourself is an important mechanism to learn and get better.

S: Have discovered many challenges on projects.
T: To identify some principals to follow.
A: Understand the users need, stay up to date with latest technologies, write clean and maintainable code, document, collaborate effectively, embrace learning.
R: By following these principals I have been able to deliver high-quality projects.
Speak Up More Standup

T: Feedback from manager to become more involved.
A: Took feedback and actively participated in standup, asking questions, offering suggestions.
R: Became a fully involved member of the team, gained confidence, understood my role better.
R: Normal to be nervous when out of depth, best to embrace it and learn.

S: Story mongoDB, understood first case, not second.
T: Deliver something while I awaited the info I needed.
A: Developed out what I knew, tested thoroughly, used it as a way to get clarification I was on right path, got info on second case when I could.
R: Worked proactively and avoided delays, delivered the story in the correct time.

S: To be effective, needed a clear and organised approach.
T: Had to set some organisational strategies.
A: Break work into manageable chunks, write a to-do list to prioritise tasks, carry over work not completed, remain flexible at the same time.
R: Effectively manage workload, save time, deliver for the team, remain focused.

S: Teams dependant on us delivering work asking when it will be done
T: Re-prioritise stories to deliver work quicker for teams that need it.
A: Put stories with lower priority on hold, pick up higher priority stories.
R: Quickly adjusted to change in priorities, improve efficiency.
R: Important to lay out priorities in planning stage.

A: Me & other junior dev XP programming, made documentation, changed working schedule.

T: Weigh up the pros and cons to make the decision.
A: Conducted research on job opportunities, cost of living etc, spoke to friends living in London, spoke to my family about it and my partner.
R: Came to the decision to move for career growth and quality of life.
R: Taught me the important in considering both personal and professional goals.
Drop Out London

T: Had to put a plan in place for next steps.
A: Internship, learning, went back to study.
R: Completed uni degree and masters. Secured job in allstate.
R: Importance of perseverance.
Working On Less Familiar Stories (XP)

S: Expectation to take on new and challenging tasks.
T: Schema upgrade story, less familiar with it.
A: Worked with other Junior Dev (XP), did research, sought info from other team members, documented what we’d learnt.
R: Completed the story, documentation used for future work on similar tasks. Was able to broaden the scope of the work I was comfortable taking.
