Storage - Storage Gateway Flashcards
What is a storage gateway?
service that enables hybrid storage between on-premises environments and AWS; integrates on-premise applications and workflows with cloud storage
How are files stored?
files are stored as S3 objects, archived virtual tapes in Glacier, and stores EBS Snapshots generated by the Volume Gateway with EBS
What are the different storage solutions?
file gateways, volume cached & storage gateways and tape gateways
What is a file gateway?
supports a file interface to S3 that combines a service and virtual appliance. virtual appliance can be ESXI, Hyper-V, ECS and or hardware
Which versions of S3 do File gateways support?
S3 standard, IA and one zone IA
How can files be stored, retrieved and accessed with a file gateway?
files can be stored and retreived with NFS V3/4.1, SMB V2/3 or can be accessed directly in S3 from the AWS Cloud application
What is max ammount of local cache that can be supported?
up to 64 TB
What is a volume gateway?
provice cloud-backed storage volumes that mount as iSCI devices from on-premise app server. There are two types: cached and stored volumes
What is a cached volume, volume gateway?
your data is stored in S3 and retained on-premise for frequent access. Volumes range between 1 GB to 32 TB in size. Up to 32 volumes can be supported.
What is a stored volume, volume gateway?
low-latency, asynchronous storage to S3. PIT snapshot backups, 1 GB to 16 TB per volume with support of up to 32 volumes
What is a tape gateway?
virtual tape library interface for virtual tape drives for iSCL storage volumes. Integrated with Glacier.
