Stoichiometry Flashcards
What is the formula for molarity?
Number of moles over Volume of solution
What is the formula for dilution?
M1V1 = M2V2
Give examples of types of chemical reactions
Precipitation Reactions
Acid-Base Reactions
Oxidation-Reduction Reactions
What are the indicators of a chemical reaction?
- Emission of heat
- Colour change
- Formation of gas
- Emission of odour
- Formation of precipitate
Which nitrate (NO3) salts are not soluble?
All nitrate salts are soluble.
Describe the solubility of alkali metals and ammonium ion
Most salts containing the alkali metal ions (Li, Na, etc) and the ammonium ion (NH4) are soluble.
Describe the solubility of halogen salts
Most Cl, Br and I salts are soluble except salts containing Ag, Pb and Hg.
Describe the solubility of sulphate salts
Most sulphate salts are soluble except BaSO4, PbSO4, HgSO4, CaSO4
Describe the solubility of hydroxide salts
Most hydroxide salts are only slightly soluble except NaOH and KOH because of the presence of the alkali metal ions.
Describe the solubility of sulphides, carbonates, chromate and phosphate salts
Most sulphides (S), carbonates( (CO3), chromate (CrO4) and phosphate (PO4) salts are only slightly soluble
