Treatment for gonorrhoea?
Beta lactams - cephalosporins, pencillin.
What drug increases resistance?
Fluroroquinolones e.g. ciproflaxcin
What complications can exist?
Misscarriage
foetal abnormalities
fitz hugh Curtis syndrome
What is non gonooccal urethritis caused by?
Main one.
chlamydia trachmatis
others include
ureplasma urelytic, haemophilis vaginialis, mycoplasma genitalium Herpes simples, adenovirus
What are the symptoms?
white cloudy discharge inflammation of the urethra dyuria burning sensation itching pain on urination
Reiter syndrome
What other things can be seen e.g. tests?
white blood cells increase
sterile pyuria
treatment for it?
Doxacycline
or macrolides- erythmyocin, azithromycin

Chlamydia trachomatis D-K types
What are the symptoms?
cervitis, urethritis, dysuria, asymptomatic in many, frequency -dysuria syndrome,
REACTIVE ATHRITIS
What is the treatment?
In paeds-erythromycin
in adults- azithromycin and doxycycline
