Q

What is the Light Phase?

A

When light is absorbed, rhodopsin breaks down (changing form).

Retinal & opsin separate (referred to as bleaching of the pigment) & ultimately causing the APs to be transmitted along the optic nerve.

Q

What occurs during the excitation of Cones?

A

Similar, but more complex than excitation of rods.

Visual pigments are formed by retinal + opsins forming blue, green, or red cones.
