Still Technique OSCE Flashcards

1
Q

Steps of Still Technique

A
  1. Evaluate affected structure
  2. Initial treatment position: place structure in position of ease
  3. Add localizing force: = 5 lbs of either compression of traction
  4. Activating force: Move through restrictive barrier while maintaining localizing force
  5. Final treatment position: at attained anatomic barrier
  6. Return pt to neutral and reassess

Q

OA Somatic dysfunction. Ex: OA E RlSr

A
  • Pt sits on table (or supine)
  • Doc behind pt and places left hand on pt’s head
  • Place right index finger at right OA joint near occipital condolence to monitor motion
  • Extend to localize to OA, add rotation left and sidebending right (position of ease)
  • Compress to segment through hand contact on cranium
  • Move OA through restrictive barrier through cranial hand contact (F RrSl) while maintaining compression
  • Attained anatomic barrier is final position
  • Return to neutral and reassess
