Still Technique OSCE Flashcards
1
Q
Steps of Still Technique
A
- Evaluate affected structure
- Initial treatment position: place structure in position of ease
- Add localizing force: = 5 lbs of either compression of traction
- Activating force: Move through restrictive barrier while maintaining localizing force
- Final treatment position: at attained anatomic barrier
- Return pt to neutral and reassess
2
Q
OA Somatic dysfunction. Ex: OA E RlSr
A
- Pt sits on table (or supine)
- Doc behind pt and places left hand on pt’s head
- Place right index finger at right OA joint near occipital condolence to monitor motion
- Extend to localize to OA, add rotation left and sidebending right (position of ease)
- Compress to segment through hand contact on cranium
- Move OA through restrictive barrier through cranial hand contact (F RrSl) while maintaining compression
- Attained anatomic barrier is final position
- Return to neutral and reassess
