Stereoisomer Vocab Flashcards
1
Q
Stereoisomers
A
These molecules have the same formula, and same bond connectivity. However, they differ in their 3D arrangement (wedged/dashed).
2
Q
How do consititutional and stereoisomers differ?
A
Constitutional isomers have the same molecular formula, and that’s about it.
3
Q
Enantiomers
A
One of the two types of stereoisomers. They are mirror images of each other, but not superimposable. They can be found by swapping wedged bonds for dashed, and vice versa.
4
Q
Diastereomers
A
A type of stereoisomer, these are not mirror images of one another. For example, one may have two wedged bonds, and the other may have one wedged bond and one dashed bond.
