What movements should be done?

A

Active shoulder flexion and extension
Active shoulder abduction and adduction
Active external and internal rotation

These should then be done passively (by clinician)

then resisted

What is active flexion and extension done?

A

Ask the patient to move their straight arms from by their side all the way up to 180.
Then ask the patient to bring their arms back down to the start position
Then get them to move their arms as far back as possible.

What is active abduction and adduction ?

A

Ask the patient to move their straight arms out laterally from by their side (abduction).
Then ask the patient to do a folding arm position (Adduction)

What is active external rotation ?

A

Ask the patient to tuck their elbows and move them laterally (OUTWARD)
