Step 2: Formation Of Acetyl And Coenzyme A Flashcards
1
Q
Where does step 2 exactly occur?
A
In the inter membrane space of the mitochondrian.
2
Q
What happens to the Pyruvates? And what is the result?
A
- One of the Hydrogen molecules becomes bonded to NAD, to once again becomes NADH2.
- A CO2 structure leaves the Pyruvates and then immediately leaves the body afterwards.
- Then the 2carbon molecule Acetyl is formed (C2H3O1)
3
Q
What happens after Acetyl is formed?
A
Coenzyme A comes along and bonds to the Acetyl
4
Q
How many ATP are produced in the formation of Acetyl (step 2)
A
