Q

Uses of stem cells

A

Stem cells have the ability to replace damaged cells and treat disease. Stem cells, if they can be directed to differentiate into specific cell types, offer the possibility of a renewable source of replacement cells and tissues to treat diseases including Parkinson’s, stroke, heart disease and diabetes.

Q

Stem cells in plants

A

Plant stem cells are innately undifferentiated cells located in the meristems of plants. Plant stem cells serve as the origin of plant vitality, as they maintain themselves while providing a steady supply of precursor cells to form differentiated tissues and organs in plants.
