Steam Cycle Flashcards
What are the 4 parts of the Basic Steam Cycle?
Generation
Expansion
Condensation
Feed
What happens during the Generation phase?
The boiler generates steam
The Force Draft Blower (FDB) provides air for combustion
The Electric (Light Off) FDB provides air for the light off of the boiler
What happens during the Expansion phase?
The HP turbine pushes steam to the LP turbine
Transforms heat energy into mechanical work
Turns the shaft
What happens during the Condensation phase?
The Condenser forces steam to the Condensate Pump w Condensate Pump to the Air Ejector Condenser steam to water Removes gases Replenishes water supply
What happens during the Feed Phase?
The De-aerating Fuel Tank (DFT) de-aerates, stores and pre-heats water
The Booster Pump pass water and maintains pressure from the DFT to the Main Feed Pump
The Main Feed Pump discharges water to the boiler and high pressure
