Stats Tests Flashcards
How to calculate degrees of freedom
N - 1
N = the number of different categories
When do you use a Chi Squared Test
To compare frequencies of observed and expected data
How to tell if the data is significant or not using a Chi Squared Test
Chi-squared is greater than the critical value (p=0.05) - reject the null, there is a significant difference
Chi-squared is less than the critical value (p=0.05) - accept the null, not a significant difference
What is the p value we use?
0.05 or 5%
How do you start a null hypothesis
There will be no difference…
When do you use a T Test
To compare two means for normally distributed data
How to tell if the data is significant or not using a T Test
T value is greater than the critical value - reject the null, there is a significant difference
T value is less than the critical value - accept the null, not a significant difference (due to chance)
