LINE PLOT
A graph that uses Xs above a number line to show data; line plots are useful for showing how data is grouped.
STATISTICAL
A question that can have a variety of answers and can be used to make a predication about a larger group.
DISTRIBUTION
Shows how spread out or how clustered data values are.
MEAN
The sum of all the values divided by the number of values. 7,9,10,13,15,15,15 The Mean is 12
MEDIAN
The middle number in a data set when all the values are listed from least to greatest.
MODE
The number that appears most often in a data set.
BOX PLOT
A five-number summary that includes the minimum, the lower quartile, the median, the upper quartile, and the maximum; shown graphically next to a number line.
LOWER QUARTILE
The middle number of all values less than the median.
UPPER QUARTILE
The middle number of all values greater than the median.
RANGE
The difference between the greatest and least values in a data set.
INTERQUARTILE RANGE (IQR)
The difference between the upper quartile and lower quartile.
OUTLIER
A data point far away from the other data points; it doesn’t quit fit with the rest of that data points.
