Statistical Tests and Analysis Flashcards
What does a Null Hypothesis assume?
That there is no significance difference in the results
A test you would use to investigate a correlation of data
Correlation Coefficient (e.g. Spearman Rank)
A test you would use to compare observed and expected frequencies for data group into categories
Chi-squared
A test you would use to compare the difference between two means of tow or more sets of data
T-test
If the test statistic is greater than or equal to the critical value then…
- The difference/correlation IS SIGNIFICANT
- There is LESS THAN 5% probability that the results are due to chance
- The Null Hypothesis would be REJECTED
If the test statistic is lower than the critical value then…
- The difference/correlation IS NOT SIGNIFICANT
- There is MORE THAN 5% probability that the results were due to chance
- The Null Hypothesis is ACCEPTED
Degree of freedom to use for a Chi-Squared test is calculated by…
the number of categories - 1
Degree of freedom to use for a T-test is calculated by…
n1 + n2 - 2
