Statistical Modelling Flashcards
1
Q
Saturated model
A
a model with a parameter for every datapoint
2
Q
Maximal model
A
a model with all terms fitted significant or otherwise
3
Q
Minimal model
A
the one that is simple and is easy to analyse, all unnecessary points are removed
4
Q
Simplification process
A
- removing non-significant interaction terms
- removing non-significant quadratic or other non-linear terms
- removing non-significant explanatory variables
- grouping together factor levels that do not differ from one another
- Transforming data to produce a better (simpler) fit, either by square root, log natural or 1-reciprocal.
5
Q
Minimal adequate model
A
result of simplification
