Stationary Wave Flashcards
1
Q
Stationary Wave
A
- Formed when two progressive waves each with the same frequency and wavelength move in opposite directions and interfere with each other
- Creates a wave that doesn’t transfer energy from one place to another
2
Q
Node
A
- Points on a stationary wave that has zero amplitude (stationary on the wave)
3
Q
Anti-node
A
- Points on a stationary wave that has maximum amplitude (furthest point on the wave)
4
Q
Closed Closed tube
A
Fundamental
- 2 nodes + 1 antinode
- L=1/2λ
Second Harmonic
- 3 nodes + 2 antinode
- L=λ
