• ink droplet are squeezed out of a tiny nozzle giving them a charge.
• they deflect from two metal plates
• a voltage is applied to the plates, the ink droplets are attracted to plates with the opposite charge and deflected from plates with the same charge
• because all over the plates it’s a different size and direction of voltage the ink droplets hit a different place on the printer forming the printed paper
