Static Electricity And Conduction Flashcards
Which law describes the force between two charged bodies?
Coulomb’s Law
What does Coulomb’s Law state?
“The magnitude of the electrostatic force of attraction, or repulsion, between two-point charges is directly proportional to the product of the magnitudes of charges and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them.”
What can Coulombs law calculate?
Coulomb’s Law can be used to calculate the force of attraction between two particles, one negatively charged, one positively charged. They are treated as point charges, so the distance between them is the distance between their centres of mass.
What term is for the universal electrical constant?
K
What is the vale of K?
9.0 × 109 Nm2/C2
What are the standard electromagnetic SI units?
Force F is measured in newtons (N)
Charge Q is measured in coulombs (C)
Distance d is measured in metres (m)
